What Next After Lasik Vision Correction

Lasik vision correction is not cheap. But with all the benefits that the Lasik institutes are flaunting, the prospect is really enticing. After all, you could be freed from wearing cumbersome glasses or the hassle of having to wear, clean, and maintain contact lenses.

So what could you expect from your Lasik surgery?

With the right doctor and a glitch-free surgery, the prospects after a Lasik procedure are indeed promising. But, the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow can only be yours after the storms have passed. Although your vision could return in just over 24 hours, the full strength of your cornea could return only after 6 months to a year. So you’re restricted as to how much force (deliberate of accidental) you should inflict to your eyes.

There are three main steps in a Lasik vision correction: creation of the flap in the cornea, destruction of the stroma using laser, and repositioning of the flap. The first step is what makes the cornea unstable for several months. Especially right after surgery, you need to wear protective goggles to prevent applying force to your eyes that can dislodge the flap. You need to revisit your eye surgeon fast when this happens.

The good news is that Lasik surgery has the fastest recovery period compared to any other minor invasive surgery. You could go to work the day after your Lasik procedure. But, you have to be diligent in applying the antibiotics and artificial tear drops that your eye doctor will prescribe you to prevent possible complication. Other than that, you should be good to go.

The pot of gold at the end of the rainbow they were talking about in Lasik surgery is the come back of your 20/20 vision. Some even report better results. You can dump your eye glasses and contact lenses and start flaunting your eyes again. Seeing in the night is no longer a hassle like when you can’t locate your glasses or you don’t have your contacts on. Even that is enough for you to take some sacrifice to bring your Laski vision back.
